A Year of Adventure with Just Backpacks: Packing Light and Smart
Thu Sep 21 2023
Ever dreamt of a year-long adventure with just your trusty backpack? Well, that's exactly what we did, and we're here to share our incredible journey of traveling the world with only backpacks, laptops, and a handful of essentials. Yep, that's right, just 7 kilos per person for an entire year – can you believe it? We'll admit, it might sound a tad daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, you're going to absolutely relish the liberating sense of freedom it grants!
Packing for a Year:
1. Laptops and Gizmos: Yep, we carried our laptops - around 1.3 kilograms each - because work never takes a vacation, right? Plus, a bag filled with chargers, power banks, and adapters that was more that 1 kilo.
2. Roll-and-Go Clothes: One of our most valuable discoveries was the use of vacuum bags for our clothes. These bags allowed us to compress our clothing by simply rolling them, eliminating the need for a vacuum cleaner. They were lifesavers, helping us save space and keep our clothes organized.
3. Wardrobe Wisdom: Our clothing choices were as minimal as it gets - about three t-shirts, a couple of shorts, one trusty pair of pants, and a jacket. Less hassle, more space for souvenirs!
4. Teva: The Ultimate Travel Buddy: When it came to footwear, Teva sandals were game-changers. They're lightweight, compact, and versatile - ideal for sandy beaches and spontaneous hikes. Highly recommended!
5. Liquids on a Diet: We minimized liquids during flights. No need for bulky shower gels - just the essentials like sunscreen, beloved shampoo, eye drops and other must-haves that might be tricky to find abroad.
6. First Aid to the Rescue: We always had a small medicine bag on hand for headaches, temperature, and other common ailments. Having this bag provided peace of mind, knowing that we were prepared for minor health issues that might arise during our travels.
The Freedom of Traveling Light:
Traveling with backpacks unleashed a world of freedom. We hopped on buses, wandered through charming streets, and ventured on spontaneous hikes without the baggage burden. It was about immersing in local cultures and savoring the simple joys of life on the road.
Sure, paring down our wardrobe meant some fashion sacrifices, but the experiences we gained were priceless. We discovered the beauty of life's simplicity and the thrill of being unencumbered by excess baggage.
So, if you're contemplating a backpack adventure, remember that less truly is more. Embrace the freedom of minimalist travel, and you'll find that the world is your playground, waiting to be explored one incredible adventure at a time. Safe travels! 🌍✈️
